• IAS is a company set up on 01st February 2010 established by consumers, enterprises and
workers operating in the quality management system certification business. Its mission is to
provide an international, impartial, independent accreditation service.
• IAS was set up as a company following the dictate of English laws and regulations and is
compliant with ISO/IEC 17011 standard (Conformity assessment-General requirements for
accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies)
• IAS is not a member of International associations and forum like EA or IAF since the
membership to these international associations is not mandatory and is not a legal
requirement in order to perform conformity assessment. Besides EA and IAF membership
is reserved only to National accreditation bodies recognised by their Governments.
• IAS was set up to provide an alternative accreditation body because it is not in agreement
with the current IAF system guidelines. IAS believes that the accreditation service
effectiveness does not stand on the proliferation of rules and obligations that as a
matter of fact curb the access to the accreditation system and betray the worldwide
accepted principles of free circulation of thoughts and goods.
IAS thinks that the trustworthiness of the system has to be relied upon the
costumers capability to reward the more effective organizations, promoting on the
other hand the sense of responsibility of the certified companies and reliability of the
certification bodies.
• IAS recognizes the role of the primary accreditation bodies which are recognized by
Government and does not want to be seen as a competitor, but wants to offer to the
certification bodies the chance to use an independent and impartial accreditation service.
